90 Percent of Cord Blood from U.S. Babies Tests Positive for BPA
Citat: (NaturalNews) For the first time in the history of its testing, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has found bisphenol A (BPA) in the umbilical cord blood of American babies. Nine out of ten samples tested positive for the chemical, a shocking number when considering the laundry list of chronic illnesses that are associated with BPA exposure.
...
Studies continue to show that BPA is dangerous, even at minimal levels, and that it should not be used in consumer products. Several groups, including the Endocrine Society and the American Medical Association (AMA), have expressed opposition to the use of BPA. Scientists are finding that low-dose exposure, especially during early developmental years, can actually cause more endocrine and reproductive problems than larger-dose exposure due to the way the body recognizes the chemical.
Not only was BPA found in babies, but 232 other chemicals were detected as well, indicating that human beings are exposed to more toxic chemicals than ever. Experts fear that such an onslaught of toxicity may cause permanent damage to the next generation of Americans.
...

http://thesoftlandingbaby.com/...ippy-cups-are-really-bpa-free/

Citat: Bisphenol A is an endocrine disruptor, which can mimic the body's own hormones and may lead to negative health effects. Early development appears to be the period of greatest sensitivity to its effects. Regulatory bodies have determined safety levels for humans, but those safety levels are currently being questioned or under review as a result of new scientific studies.
In 2009 the The Endocrine Society released a scientific statement expressing concern over current human exposure to BPA.

PC - PolyCarbonate - polikarbonat
Šta znači broj 7
Polycarbonates + many others
(Reusable water bottles, baby bottles, Tupperware)
Citat: Plastics #7
Other - contains all types of plastics not listed under 1-6. Many of these plastics may be safe but Polycarbonates (Trade name LEXAN) which contains Bisphenol A is also listed under category 7 so be careful. Bisphenol A (aka BPA) are endocrine disrupters, which mimic hormones. They may cause havoc on human hormones through plastics leaching into hot beverages and may also be a potential carcinogen. Do not use these products with infants and small children and never use them to heat liquids or formula.
Citat: *NOTE: Not all category #7 plastics include the BPA toxin. Group #7 also includes compostable plastics made of organic material such as corn, which may actually be more environmentally friendly than most general plastics. Most of these biodegradable cups are typically labeled to inform you of their eco-product nature.

^ hvala.

Citat: I’ve switched to BPA free bottles but now I am wondering about the bottle nipples. Are they safe? Is there BPA in Silicone?
I’ve gotten this question quite a few times so I thought I would address it since it seems to be a concern for parents who are taking BPA into consideration when buying for their little ones. Bottle nipples tend to come in two materials. One is Silicone. Silicone is the popular choice for parents these days and with good reason. Silicone is soft and easy to sterilize and importantly is non-porous. not to mention it does not contain Bisphenol-A, Phthalates or PVC so it is a safe choice for your baby. When buying silicone nipples, opt for products that use “medical grade” silicone when possible to ensure the silicone was made with the highest standards.
Other bottle nipples are made with Latex. Infants sometimes take to latex versions easier and there are also pacifiers made with it. Latex is also BPA free but there have been some research showing that over time, latex can leach carcinogens called nitrosamines. The FDA regulates levels allowed in latex bottle nipples but some levels are permissible so medical grade silicone is the better alternative. It has also been suggested that exposure to latex early in life can trigger a latex allergy.
